Home Sweet Tulsa Home

After searching several neighborhoods all over the city, C and I found a new home for our family here in Tulsa. We are under contract, waiting on the house in Alabama to close. I took a few photos of the place while we were there for inspection today. There are a few minor things that need to be repaired, but we are excited about our new digs! Just a few more weeks until we are officially Okies.

Picnic weather

We have had perfect weather here this past week, and after the scorcher this summer has been we were really excited to spend some time outside enjoying it.

Olivia asked me on Tuesday if we could have a picnic which seemed like an excellent idea to me. We grabbed a blanket and our food and set up under the tree in our front yard.

In accordance with the Rules Of Proper Southern Picnics, ours included fried chicken. And a lot of smiles and laughter.

Oh-Libya

When we are in public, O has started to introduce herself to anyone who speaks to her.

"I'm Libya! Oh-Libya."

She melts my heart every time.

Why are you picking your seat?

Are you going to the movies?

Have you heard that joke before? My dad was fond of saying it whenever I or one of my sisters presented the, uh, opportunity.

Well this time we DID go to the movies! Honey took Olivia, Lucy and me to see The Lion King in 3D. It was O's first trip to the movies, and she seemed to really enjoy it. She wore the 3D glasses with no problems and wasn't scared by Uncle Scar and the hyenas. Our biggest issue was that she picked out sour gummies at the concession stand and wanted my snocaps once we sat down.

Location:Why are you picking your seat?

Why can't my kids just take a pacifier?

I'm not sure how well you can see it in these photos, but Lucy has a new hobby: toe sucking.

Maybe I won't have to worry about her doing that in kindergarten like her thumb sucking sister.

Lucy milestone

I didn't see it happen but while Olivia and I ate lunch today, Lucy rolled from her back to her tummy! She has rolled from belly to back twice before today (didn't see those either) and seems to gaining a lot of core strength. We pulled the bouncer out over the weekend and she loves it!

Lucy is 5 days shy of 4 months today.

Rub a dub dub

Two toddlers in my tub!

I don't think it will be much longer before these two will have to do separate bath times when we are all together. For now, though, it is one of the only times during the day that they don't seem to break into a fight over nothing.

Budding athlete

We have some friends who are also our neighbors. We are spending some time with them this evening, and the younger girl, "oh-ie" has soccer practice. Our Olivia has never seen the sport before, but she has really had a lot of fun tonight "practicing."

You Got Some 'Splainin To Do

When I was pregnant with our Lucy, we had a much harder time finding a name that we liked than we did with Olivia -- I went into the hospital with a list of at least 10 approved names for her, waiting until she was two days old to decide Olivia was the right fit. When C suggested naming Lucy after his grandmother, I loved the name but was a little hesitant to name a child Lucy Hall since it sounds so much like Lucy Ball, the famous actress. I said more than once before she was born that if our child came out with red hair we would have to find another name. Well, we have a strawberry blonde Lucy, and I can't imagine calling her anything else.

One hundred years ago today, the woman who made our child's name famous was born.

Not for nothing, but I think my Lucy is cuter.

At any rate, if you weren't born by the time she died, here are some things you may not know about Lucille Ball:
--Lucy's Broadway stage name (where she got her start) was Dianne Belmont
-- she was registered to vote as a Communist
--she had rheumatoid arthritis
--Lucy was not a real red-head
--Lucy gave birth to her son the same day that Lucy Ricardo (her character) gave birth on the show

And 10 weeks into her life, here are some things you may not know about our Lucille Hall:
--when she gets super mad and cries, tears pool in her ears
--she sleeps 8 hours straight at night (yay!)
--she grew 2.5 inches from her one month check up to her two month check up
--she is not registered to vote
--Lucy's stage name is Chunkachunk

It's okay, Cooper, your cousin isn't as scary as she looks. Most of the time.

We Grow Big Babies

This is Cooper and Lucy together when Lucy is two weeks old. Cooper was born in December, so he is …. almost exactly 6 months old in these photos. To be fair, Cooper started out tiny, but Lucy won’t take long to catch up to him.

Olivia wanted to get in there and lay with the babies – she looks like a giant compared to them! I can’t get over how she went from being my baby to this sassy little girl the second her sister was born.

The Day Before We Became Four

The day before Lucy was born Olivia’s school had a Field Day/End of the Year Party at one of the local parks. I figured (correctly) it would be the last time for a while that I was able to get outside in the heat with her, so I took her. I wasn’t sure how many children there would be and I was a bit nervous about losing track of her or having to run after her, so I got my mom to come with me. Turns out that it was a nice time, no running required, but Honey enjoyed watching O play.

Olivia’s teacher, Dawn, did face painting. I was surprised that she sat so still and let Dawn do it.

Olivia was all about the slides, showing off for Honey.

Sno-cones and Disney tattoos were also part of the fun.

Honey’s office is just down the street from the park, so we walked back there after the party with her to eat our lunch in the cool air. Momma was hot.

And huge. HUUUUGE. I hate publishing these pictures, but I think they might be the only ones I have of my pregnancy since Christmas. Sorry, Lucy, I didn’t enjoy documenting my return to Whale-Like Proportions.
